FRIDAY (4:00-11:00pm)

Whether or not you are camping, when you arrive Friday afternoon (8/13/10) you will feel excitement in the air. You will be part of the second annual event held at Marr Park. Secure parking will be provided in the adjoining school parking lots.
Beginning at 3:00pm, campers and gear will be picked up in the parking lot and transported by wagon to their campsite in the MARR PARK MEADOW AREA. (see "campsite area" page.

Overnight camping is not required, however there are an estimated 150 Primitive Campsites and 25 Motorhome/Camper sites available. You may select a camping area if you intend to camp near friends. The area designations are marked on the Aerial map provided on the "Campsite Area" page. Mounted security will be provided all night in the camping and parking area by the Goshen Horse-Thief Detectives.

Old West Festival will be present and ready to pose for pictures with the young at heart.

At 4:00pm, members of the Goshen Horse-Thief Detectives (Mounted Division) will depart Township Hall and follow the painted hooves up Goshen Rd. to the entrance of Marr Park where they will hang the banners of the sponsoring organizations and open the first annual GOSHEN GALLOP. Children dressed in Western wear are invited and encouraged to lead the parade from Marr/Cook Elementary to Marr Park.

Wagon Ride
No fewer that 3 tractor pulled wagons will provide trail rides around the entire 80 acres of Park. Enjoy this wonderful gift to Goshen from Mrs. Marr till after dark. Purchase of a wagon pass entitles the bearer to ride as much as they like. These passes are not transferrable. Wagon Rides will stop at dark.

Nail Game
Try your hammering skill. If you can drive a nail, you can win the game. (It's not as easy as it looks) Begins at 5:0
0pm till dark.

Jail & Bail
From 5:00-11-00pm, The Horse-Thief Detective Tumbleweed Wagon will be temporary home to a number of campers. For a small fee, you can have anyone arrested and thrown in jail. They can be bailed out (for a small fee) or serve their sentence. Once in the Hooscow, escape is unlikely. The wagon will be guarded by shotgun toting detectives that are ready to hang all trying to escape.


Rustler's Cookout
Known for their creative culinery skills, Mike & Lois Swift have developed a superb menu for the evening meal. Included: Cowboy BBQ Ribs; BBQ Beef Sandwich; Cowboy Stew; Chuck Wagon Beans; Chuck Wagon Hashed Potatoes; Cowpoke Cornbread; Dinner is available from 5:00-7:00pm.

Cornhole/Horse Shoe Tournaments (Meadow)
Two person teams can sign up on line. There will be cash prizes for the teams finishing 1st and 2nd.  Age group divisions. Find a friend and get ready to throw. Begins after dinner. 6:00-9:00pm

Quick Draw Paint Ball Contest
For the paint ball enthusiasts, sign up early for the quick draw contest. Paint Ball single shot pistols will be strapped on. Protective gear is a must. This contest will determine the fastest draw in Goshen.

Guitar/Banjo Jam Sessions (Meadow)(Wagon)(Barn)
Originally designed to be a contest, this year will be continued music in a casual jam session environment. Any one can join. Bring your guitar, banjo, violin or other stringed instrument. The campfire music will be a treat for all.

Birds of Prey (Barn)
Four Birds of Prey will be shown in the barn area at 7:15-8:15pm. This will be a special treat for young and old alike. If you aren't watching the Tournaments, do'nt miss it.


Stilt Man
Another circus act to thrill the kids. 7:00-9:00pm


Fire Juggler (Meadow)
From 9:00-9:30pm when the bonfire is lit, campers will be amazed at the circus skill if this wonderful act.

Olde Time Photography (throughout the event site)*
Cut outs of your favorite wild west characters are available for photos. The kids will love it and you will have a lifetime of memories.

Bonfire (Meadow)
The bonfire will be lit around 9:30pm by Eric Marr (nephew of the late Kathryn S. Marr). By the time the liar's contest is complete (about 11:00pm) the fire should be ready for "midnight marshmellows.

Liars Contest (Barn)
Just after dark, (9:45pm) liars from far and wide will compete by spinning their tallest tale. Admission $1. If you are interested in joining the contestants, contact Marsha Huff

Midnight Marshmallows
After the Liars contest is finished, marshmallows will be distributed to all who wish a little more fun before bed. Guitar music will continue for a while at the campfire. Head for the tent whenever you please

SATURDAY

Wake up Saturday morning (7:00am) to the sound of bagpipes calling all to the Ranchers' Breakfast. (7:00-9:00am). Included in the menu is: Cowboy Breakfast Burritos; Bisquits & Gravy; Bacon; Grits w/ Cheese; Desperado Donoughts; Coffee & OJ. It doesn't get any better at home!

After breakfast, everyone is free to break camp and clean their campsite. Wagons will run beginning at 8:00am returning campers to their vehicles.

Horse/Carriage Parade
Beginning at 11:00am, the horse/carriage parade will travel down Linton Rd, cross SR28 and turn left on Old SR 28. They will then travel to Goshen Rd, turn left and return to the school area. Although this is Goshen's first year for the horse/carriage parade, it promises to be quite an attraction.

Horse/Carriage Blessing
At the intersection of State Route 28 and Goshen Rd., horses and carriages will be announced and individually blessed by local clergy.

After the completion of the Horse/Carriage Parade, the organization banners will be lowered and close the first annual Goshen Gallop. Wagons will continue to transport campers to their vehicle until all campers and gear are gone.
